    Don’t bite off more than you can chew. If you don’t have time to create a complete game system then just make a part of one to do something you really want to do. Something fun for the players.

    Allow other designers to borrow your stuff. If you have a great mechanic, why not share it with proper attribution?

    Ask yourself how much of a commitment is needed to play the game. Can it be played as a one-shot? How about a short adventure arc?

    If there are different roles in the game, are they all fun to play. They don’t have to equal in power or influence if they are equally fun.
